Before becoming an Acacia Angel, Sarah had a diverse career. She worked as both a recruitment consultant and a bar manager, two roles she never thought would prepare her for a career in care. However, after her mother’s passing, Sarah stepped away from work to care for her father, who had Parkinson’s disease and moved in with her. This experience changed her perspective and ignited a passion for caregiving.
A New Beginning with Acacia Homecare
After her father’s passing, Sarah began searching for a new role but hadn’t considered caregiving as a career path. That all changed when she came across an advert for Acacia Homecare. The company’s values resonated with her, and she felt drawn to apply.
“I hadn’t considered care, but Acacia seemed like a company I would love to work for,” Sarah explained. “I fell in love with home care instantly! From day one, everyone was so friendly and helpful—from the field staff to the office team.”
The Joy of Connecting with Customers
One of the most fulfilling parts of Sarah’s journey has been the relationships she’s built with the customers. “Seeing the look on my customers’ faces when I walk in and having a laugh and a joke with them—it lets me know they’re pleased to see me,” she shared. “I can’t put into words how it feels to know I’m helping people live their lives as normally, independently, and safely as they can.”
Sarah’s role not only brings her joy but also offers her flexibility. As a grandmother, she appreciates the balance her job provides. “This job gives me the flexibility to look after my grandson as well, so it’s truly the best of both worlds.”
Looking Ahead: A Career in Care
Though Sarah has only been with Acacia Homecare for just over six months, her passion for caregiving continues to grow. “I would love to further my career in care, and knowing I can do this with Acacia is amazing,” she said.
